MyCited Privacy Policy

MyCited is committed to the highest level of protection of Student Data and Personally Identifying Information (PII) at all times. We follow and meet required privacy laws including but not limited to, The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), IDEA Parts B and C, Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment, Ohio Senate Bill 29, and New Hampshire Minimum Standards for Privacy and Security of Student and Employee Data.

Information Collection and Use
MyCited DOES NOT Collect personally identifiable information (PII) such as education records or directory information of students (together referred to herein as Student Information).

MyCited automatically collects certain types of information when users access the MyCited website. Such data consists of anonymous information such as a user’s web request, number of clicks within the software, how a user interacts with links on the website, webpages that are viewed, and other such information in order to improve MyCited.

Product related notifications will be sent within the system to keep users informed of important system updates. MyCited will never use student PII to directly advertise to students.

How We Protect Data
MyCited resides inside an encrypted network with restricted physical access and permissions. It utilizes industry-standard technology to safeguard the account registration process, sign-in information and data transmitted to MyCited. We use unique account identifiers which attribute each user to a specific account so that information is only accessible to designated school and service provider representatives, as determined by the District or service provider. Access to Student Information is limited through unique account credentials to those MyCited employees who require it to perform their job functions. MyCited utilizes and maintains system unit and integration tests to ensure these privacy controls work as expected.

MyCited conducts a voluntary risk assessment for vulnerabilities in organizational systems and applications and security controls annually and when new vulnerabilities affecting our system are identified.

In the event of a change of control: If we sell, divest or transfer our business, we will not transfer personal information of our customers unless the new owner intends to maintain and provide the Service as a going concern, and provided that the new owner has agreed to data privacy standards no less stringent than our own. In such a case we will provide you with notice and an opportunity to opt-out of the transfer of personally identifiable Student Data.

Any information collected through the Service is stored and processed in the USA. If you use our Service outside of the USA, you consent to have your data transferred to the USA.

Identification and Authentication
For students accessing MyCited through a district account, login will be facilitated through district identified single sign-on (SSO) providers. For individual users, MyCited enforces a minimum password complexity and change of characters when new passwords are created.

Log Data
We want to inform you that whenever you use our Service, in the case of an error in the app we collect data and information (through third-party products) called Log Data. This Log Data may include information such as your device Internet Protocol (IP) Address, device name, operating system version, the configuration of the app when utilizing our Service, the time and date of your use of the service, and other statistics.

Cookies
Cookies are the files with a small amount of data that are commonly used as anonymous unique identifiers. These are sent to your browser from the websites that you visit and are stored on your device’s internal memory.

This service does not use cookies explicitly. However, the app may use third-party code and libraries that use cookies to collect information and improve their services. You have the option to either accept or refuse these cookies and know when a cookie is being sent to your device. If you choose to refuse our cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of this service.

Service Providers
We may employ third-party companies and individuals due to the following reasons:

  • To facilitate our service
  • To provide the service on our behalf
  • To perform service-related services
  • To assist us in analyzing how our service is used.

We want to inform users of this service that these third parties have access to their Personal Information. The reason is to perform the tasks assigned to them on our behalf. However, they are obligated not to disclose or use the information for any other purpose.

Security
We value your trust in providing us your personal Information, thus we strive to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. But remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Children’s Privacy
These Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. In the case we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to do the necessary actions.

How We Delete Information
Following termination or deactivation of a school district, school, or school service provider account, MyCited may retain student information and content for a reasonable time for backup, archival, or audit purposes. MyCited may also maintain anonymized or aggregated data, including usage data, for analytics purposes.

Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
